The Five Reiki Principles

Hello, friends.

 I need your help! I’m writing a book based on the five reiki principles. The working title is: Give Me 5!: Five essential principles for inviting health and happiness into your life.

 Along with physical healing, many people also find Reiki as a path to personal and spiritual growth. Usui Reiki is based on Five Principles.

The principles are the very CORE of Usui-sensei's system. Dr. Mikao Usui himself described the Precepts as being: 
"The secret method of inviting blessings, the spiritual medicine of many illnesses". The Precepts themselves are 'keys' or strategies to apply to life.

The Five Reiki Precepts  are:

Just for today…


I will let go of anger.


I will let go of  worry.



I am grateful for my many blessings.


I will work diligently.

I will be kind to every living thing (including myself). 

Usui suggested that mornings and evenings one should sit in the gassho (prayer) position and repeat these 
words out loud and in your heart for the improvement of mind and body.

In this book, I will delve into the meaning of these principles, focusing on practical ways to implement them into your daily life.  One does not need to be a reiki practitioner or even believe in reiki in order to apply these principles to their life. Anyone and everyone, regardless of your religious or spiritual beliefs, can benefit from implementing these practices daily. Personally, I believe that these principles can be an essential guide in anyone’s life.

So, here’s where you come in…

 I’m looking for compelling personal stories to include in the book! I would like to provide real life examples of how applying these principles can be beneficial to one’s life by improving health and/or increasing peace & happiness.

Description of the Five Reiki Principles 

v Just for today, I will let go of anger.

Anger at others or oneself or at the whole world, creates serious blockages in one's energy. It is the most complex inner enemy.

Reiki is an excellent tool to remove anger blockages which have accumulated in the body over years, but it cannot remove the residue of current anger which occurs daily.

Letting go of anger brings Peace into the Mind.

v Just for today, I will let go of worry.

While anger deals with past and present events, worry deals with future ones. Although worry is not always a negative phenomena, endless worries may fill one's head, and each one bores a small hole in one's body and soul.

Letting go of worry, brings healing into the Body.

v Just for today, I will be grateful.

Count your many blessings. Be grateful from your heart inward. Inner intention is the important element in this principle. Simple things as thanks, forgiveness, smile, good words, gratitude can improve others life and make them happy.

Being thankful brings Joy into the Spirit.

v Just for today, I will do my work honestly.

Support yourself and your family respectably, without harming others. Earn a respectable living, live a life of honor. Work hard on your personal development and spiritual growth.

Working Honestly brings Abundance into the Soul.

v Just for today, I will be kind to every living thing.

Honor your parents, honor your teachers, honor your elders. Practice kindness toward yourself and others as often as possible.

Being Kind brings Love into the Will.
