Easy Apple Crisp! Try this healthy version of a fall classic. It has all the flavor, but not as much fat or calories. Plus, it's made with healthy, organic ingredients! It can be a Gluten-free apple crisp also!

Ingredients: Use organic ingredients whenever possible!

Apple Filling

  • 6-8 Apples, peeled, cored and thinly sliced (I prefer Gala or Fuji)
  • 2 tablespoons Agave Nectar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 1 tablespoon flour (Gluten-Free, whole wheat, spelt or buckwheat flour are healthy options)
  • Topping:

    • 3/4 cup old fashioned rolled oats (or gluten-free)
    • 1/4 cup whole wheat flour (or gluten-free)
    • 1/4 cup brown sugar or sucanat
    • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
    • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
    • 1/8 teaspoon ground ginger
    • 1/4 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
    • 1/4 cup melted butter (I use organic Earth Balance)


    1. Wash, peel,and core the apples.
    2. Slice the apples very thinly. Place them in a bowl and add the lemon juice, agave, and flour, and cinnamon. Toss the apples so they are evenly coated.
    3. Grease an 8X8 baking dish (preferably glass)with coconut oil.
    4. Add the apple filling to the greased pan and spread out evenly.
    5. Mix all of the topping's dry ingredients together in a bowl.
    6. Pour the melted butter over the topping mixture. Stir, or combine within fingers, until crumbly. (You can also add a little water-it makes the topping crispier!).
    7. Sprinkle the crumbly topping over the apples.
    8. Bake for about 40 min. at 375'.

    If you have a gluten sensitivity, you can easily make this entire recipe a gluten-free apple crisp! Bob's Red Mill brand has a great all purpose gluten-free flour! This is a simple healthy apple crisp recipe the whole family will enjoy!
